Instagram Edits Teleprompter: Write and Record a Natural Reel

The Edits teleprompter scrolls your script while you record. Open the Edits camera, tap the script icon, paste or write your words, then adjust the text size, scrolling speed, and window position. A good setup helps you see the words. A good script still has to sound like something you would say.

Set up the teleprompter in Edits

  1. Open the camera inside the Edits app.
  2. Tap the script icon on the left side of the camera.
  3. Paste a script, write one in the window, or send a sticky note from Ideas.
  4. Set the font size and scrolling speed for your normal speaking pace.
  5. Reposition the window near the lens without covering the part of the frame you need to see.

Read the first two lines aloud before recording. If your eyes chase the text or you rush the final words, slow the scroll. If the script occupies too much of the frame, shorten the lines before shrinking the type.

Write for the voice you already have

A teleprompter can make a polished paragraph sound wooden. Start with the sentence you would say to one person. Keep the contractions you use in conversation. Replace a long introduction with the useful point, then explain why it matters.

Exhale's writing prompts and workshop posts use calm, direct language for mothers making time to create. A Reel script for that audience should keep the same tone. Reading a formal lecture from the screen would break the voice the account has already established.

Mark breaths with line breaks. Put one thought on each line. Read the draft once without recording and cut any phrase you would never say aloud.

Break explanations into one idea at a time

Sensitive or technical subjects need room. Give the opening line one job: name the question. Use the next lines for the answer, one reason, and the next safe step. A dense list makes the speaker rush and leaves the viewer to sort out which detail matters.

Tiny Tickers explains serious heart conditions and family support. That kind of Reel benefits from plain words and a measured pace. The script can name one concern, explain what a family can do next, and point to the full resource without trying to fit every medical detail into one take.

Use a five-part speaking script

  1. Open with the exact question or problem.
  2. Give the answer in one plain sentence.
  3. Add one example the viewer can picture.
  4. Name the next action, limit, or check.
  5. Close with a specific reason to save, reply, or visit the profile.

Time the read at your real pace. Trim the script to fit the planned Reel instead of speeding through it. Keep pauses where a viewer needs to absorb a name, step, or warning.

Keep your eyes close to the lens

Move the teleprompter window as close to the camera as the framing allows. Large side-to-side eye movement makes the read obvious. Record a short test, watch only your eye line, and adjust the window before filming the full script.

The teleprompter does not replace captions. Add and correct Instagram Reel captions after recording. If the visuals carry the story and the spoken track belongs over edited clips, use the Reel voiceover workflow.

Review the take before editing

  • The first sentence makes sense without the caption.
  • Your pace sounds spoken rather than read.
  • Your eyes stay close to the lens.
  • Names, numbers, and instructions match the source.
  • The final line gives one clear next step.

Fix the script when the wording is the problem. Fix the scroll speed when the delivery is rushed. A third take with the same stiff sentence will usually sound like the first two.
