Instagram Edits Carousel Editor: Build a Swipeable Story
Start with the story each swipe should reveal. Edits can place photos, videos, and text on one canvas, carry selected elements across slides, and share the result directly to Instagram. The tools help most when every slide still has a clear job.

The current workflow
The Edits carousel editor is available now on iOS, with Android announced as coming soon. Open Projects, press the plus button, choose Carousel, and select one or more photos or videos. Arrange the media on the canvas, edit it, then share directly to Instagram or download the finished carousel to post anywhere.
The editor supports photos, videos, and text. Its tools include preset layouts, cutout stickers, filters, adjustments, color grading, scale, and rotation. Saved adjustments, colors, audio, and text styles carry across Edits projects, which can reduce setup without deciding the story for you.
Give the swipe a beginning and an end
Mr. Vegas describes the account as a sketch and dump space for pink poodles and doodles. That visible subject could become a short making sequence: rough shape, expression, color choice, and finished character. A reader should understand why each drawing follows the one before it.
Edits lets a photo bleed from one slide into the next and a headline carry across them. Use that effect at one deliberate turn, such as moving from sketch to color. Keep the character clear on both sides of the split. A cross-slide design that works only in the editor may become two confusing crops when somebody pauses on one slide.
Write the slide jobs before choosing effects. The Instagram carousel planning guide covers the cover promise, sequence, and closing action.
Use layouts to compare details, not fill space
Emmalee Martyak's cached posts are fashion-led. A useful carousel could move from a full outfit to fabric, accessory, and setting details. Each crop would answer a different question. Repeating similar portraits across every slide would add swipes without adding much information.
The layout tool can place several images on one slide and lets you change padding and spacing. Apply adjustments or filters to individual items only when the difference has a purpose. Compare the color and exposure across the whole sequence before publishing, especially when the images came from different lighting.
Add useful alt text for the visible information in each image. Decorative text inside the artwork should also remain readable at phone size.
Review the carousel one slide at a time
- Read the cover without swiping. It should make a specific promise the later slides keep.
- Tap through without audio. Photos, video frames, and text should still explain the sequence.
- Pause on every cross-slide image or headline. Check both halves as individual crops.
- Use the slide menu to duplicate, insert, or reorder only after the story works from start to finish.
- Download a review copy before publishing. Check names, credits, spelling, contrast, and the final action.
Edits can remove export and re-upload steps when you share directly to Instagram. That convenience does not replace the final preview. Check the Instagram composer before posting because the caption, tags, alt text, and account settings sit outside the visual canvas.
Sources and freshness
Instagram's October 7, 2026 carousel editor announcement documents the iOS release, Android status, canvas tools, saved styles, slide controls, direct sharing, and downloads. The announcement and Instagram's matching @Creators post were checked October 15, 2026. The two example profiles, their live Instagram pages, Roastagram analyses, and cached recent-post images were checked on the same date.

Can one image continue across two carousel slides?
Yes. Edits can make a photo bleed from one slide into the next, and a headline can continue across slides. Preview every crop so the individual slides still make sense before and after the swipe.
