Native scheduling guide
Schedule Instagram Posts and Reels in the App
Public Instagram accounts can schedule photos, carousels, and Reels inside the app. The current limits are 25 posts per day and 30 days ahead. Build a short queue around work that is already accurate, then keep open space for posts that depend on what happens today.

Use the native scheduler when the post is ready
Instagram's in-app scheduler handles feed photos, carousels, and Reels for public accounts. Finish the media, caption, audience settings, and publishing details first. Then open More options, turn on Schedule this post or Schedule this reel, choose the date and time, and return to the composer to schedule it.
Scheduling changes the publishing time. It does not repair a weak cover, unfinished caption, uncertain crop, or stale claim. Review the post as if it were going live now, especially when the caption names a price, deadline, venue, product, or availability.
Schedule a process, not a pile of finished posts
Elisa Tonini's visible paintings and writing create several honest moments to publish: an early detail, a work in progress, the finished piece, and the thought that connects them. Those posts can be prepared together without making them interchangeable.
Give each scheduled post a separate job. The first can introduce the material or question. A later post can show a decision made during the work. The finished piece can stand on its own once it exists. If the artwork changes direction, edit or remove the queued explanation before Instagram publishes something that is no longer true.
A repeatable sequence works better when it has a recognizable promise. The Instagram content series guide shows how to test a short series before filling a longer calendar.
Schedule a post or Reel
- 1. Create the post. Choose Post or Reel, add the media, and complete the edit.
- 2. Finish the publishing details. Write the caption and review the cover, crop, audience, and other settings.
- 3. Open More options. Turn on Schedule this post or Schedule this reel.
- 4. Choose a time. Pick a date within the next 30 days, tap Done, then return to the composer.
- 5. Tap Schedule. Confirm that the post appears under Scheduled content.
Instagram currently allows up to 25 posts a day. That is a platform limit, not a publishing target. Choose a pace your account can review and support after each post appears.
Leave room for the post that needs today
Maarten Reijgersberg's current profile moves between keynote work, creative businesses, classic cars, and everyday updates. A fully packed queue would make a timely talk, opening, trip, or response compete with posts prepared before it happened.
Schedule the dependable material and protect some empty dates. A prepared creative-business post can wait in the queue. A same-day event photo needs fresh context. If both matter, reschedule the evergreen post instead of publishing two unrelated updates because the calendar said so.
Reels need the same review. Check the opening, sequence, cover, and length with the Instagram Reels workflow before adding a publication time.
Know what the scheduler cannot carry
Instagram says product tagging, collaborative posts, sponsored posts, and fundraisers are not compatible with scheduled content at this time. If a post depends on one of those features, plan a manual publishing check instead of preparing a version that loses its main function.
The scheduler keeps the privacy and audience settings chosen when the content was scheduled. Review those settings again when the audience matters, and use a current Instagram screen rather than an old checklist because controls can change.
Edit, reschedule, share now, or delete
Open Profile, Menu, and Scheduled content. Use Options beside a queued post to edit it, move the time, publish it now, or delete it. Instagram also lets you reach Scheduled from the creation flow.
Check the queue after any launch date, venue, stock level, or plan changes. Removing one inaccurate post takes less work than correcting it after publication.
